Under: Fictional
This is a collection of plants that I have either made up or found. They
are all fictional. Credit goes to their original creators.
-
Andraste’s Thread: A special vine and flower plant that the Goddess Andraste created especially for her network of spies. Tiny bulbs that resemble thorns or knots in the vine’s flesh act as transceivers for noise or pictures.
Blinding Bluebell: A small, purplish-blue flower that secretes a sweet-smelling venom to help catch small insects, devouring them through a mouth in the center of the bud. When larger living creatures near it, the Blinding Bluebell flashes a bright light, using small, thin roots as a sort of ‘trip line’ to determine when the creature is near. If looked at while flashing, the Blinding Bluebell may cause temporary blindness. They are usually found within Devil’s Snare or Vipervine, using the more violent plants to its advantage, keeping dangerous creatures away.
Caustic Muse: A plant that uses special acids inside its flower to melt down any threat. The plant consists of a thin stem going straight into the ground before splitting into miniature roots. Large leaves surround the stem, and at the top of the stem is the 'Muse's flower. The flower is pink, with heart-shaped petals, and it's acid flows through the 'veins' that spider-web through the petals and come out if needed from microscopic 'pores' along the veins. It doesn't project the acid, but if a creature touches it, the creature's flesh instantly starts to dissolve. A drop of this acid can dissolve a man's arm before it dissipates.
Challin Chellis: A type of weed that, if ground into a powder and boiled, can cause temporary paralysis and unconsiouness. It's usually a bright orange color and grows in small patches deep in the forests of Makai.
Creeper’s Tinsel: A plant that usually wraps around trees. It is quite harmless and can be used as a de-toxin for Caustic Muse’s acid.
Devil’s Snare: A mass of soft, springy tendrils and vines that possess some sense of touch. Devil's Snare uses its tendrils to ensnare anyone who touches it, binding their arms and legs and eventually choking them. The harder a person struggles against Devil's Snare, the faster and more tightly it binds them; if they relax, it will not kill them as quickly. It is sensitive to light and heat.
Flutterby: A tree-like plant that flowers once every hundred years. It can completely negate the corroding effects of the Caustic Muse or rebuild blood due to loss from the Vipervine when the flowers are crushed into a powder and boiled with thorns of the Nile Rose. The sap from the bark also has the ability to heal minor scratches.
Fuwa no Reishi: Found in Reikai. It has a dull green vine. It's flowers are normally red or orange. The vine itself creates an unending supply of ki to make the flowers glow in order to attract insects and smaller creatures. The flowers have tiny mouths on them, about the size of a golf ball, that eat the attracted animals and insects, adding their inherent ki to the supply made by the vines. It has the ability to filter light and heat into ki as well, if given a good supply of either, and should be kept in a cool, dark place so it remains dormant. It cannot convert it's own light to ki.
Nile Rose: A flower native to the Egyptian rivers, usually seen on the Nile itself, where it got its name. Its pollen can put someone into a restorative coma.
Numbing Water Lily: A flower that sits upon the surface of a body of water. It varies in color. When touched, it numbs the body, making it so that one doesn’t know about its partner. It tends to wind around Waterwells or Springcurrents and helps these plants gain their prey. When combined with Waterwells, this plant may prove lethal.
Sealing Mayflower: A small purple flower. They grow in clumps. The Sealing Mayflower, when ground into a powder and boiled, can be used to speed up the healing in oftentimes fatal wounds.
Springapple: A fruit similar to peaches or pears with a hard outer shell like covering like a watermelon’s shell. The outer shell is poisonous and should not ever be consumed, but the inside is harmless, even sweet.
Springcurrent: A tree that grows in water. It bears sweet fruit called Springapples. The tree itself is rather harmless, but one should look out for its roots and the Numbing Water Lily, which oftentimes grows nearby.
Spyflower: A flower that blooms on Andraste’s Thread. It has a lens inside the bulb that can view any room that the Andraste’s Thread has entered.
Vipervine: A vine that burrows under the skin of its prey. It sucks out the blood to feed itself. It is a carnivorous plant. It tends to either be brown, resembling a dead tree vine, or bright yellow. In the latter instance, it usually twirls about to give the impression of being a flower.
Waterwells: The roots of the Springcurrent. They secrete an ‘ink’ when attacked similar to that which squid use. This ink is highly toxic and may prove fatal to small humans and animals.
Yellow Swatwich: A kind of poisonous moss. If inhaled or touched by flesh, it will cause the living flesh to corrode. There are no known cures.
